Drnča Manor in the village of Dvorska vas in Gorenjska region is located on the north side of the Radovljica plain, called “Dežela” or "The Country”. Drnča Manor or “Drmič” was first mentioned in the 13th Century. From the middle of the 14th and until the beginning of the 15th Century, the Manor was owned by the Drampcz family, some sources claim that the Gallenberg family owned the Manor in the 16th Century, from the beginning of the 17th and to the 18th Century, the Manor was owned by the Lamberg family. The latter are acclaimed as the most significant owners of the Manor. Namely, Jacob Lamberg II was the member of the brotherhood of knights, called “The Golden Cross” brotherhood, which promoted a moderate way of living. Lamberg's character also appeared in the folk ballad “Pegam and Lambergar”.
In the 19th Century the ownership of the Manor was taken over by Franc Stroy, followed by Andrej Jerman and Janez Jarc. In the 20th Century the owners were the Baillu barons, who were exiled after WWII, the estate was then nationalised.
During the times of Janez Vajkard Valvasor, the name Tormessch or Tormeetsh was used, which originates in the word “Tern”, a deformed German word “doren”, which means thorn; also other diminutives like "ternie" or "ternieze” were used.
Janez Vajkard Valvasor related the name to thorn shrubs, which grew on the area behind the manor. The field that is spreading in front of the manor also took over the same name, namely "Dermsko polje" (this name is used in the French land register as a fallow name). Later on, the village got its name - Dermetz or Dvorska vas, in 1326, the manor was mentioned as “Dermpez” – “Drnški” or “Baronov grad”.
